YSE prices include insurance cover for travel disruption ONLY (please see YSE Automatic Insurance below).

However, it is a condition of booking that you have adequate travel insurance covering you for medical costs, mountain rescue and emergency repatriation, third-party liability, travel disruption, cancellation, and your personal effects. This is NOT included in the YSE holiday prices, but is something you must organise for yourself.

When you organise your own insurance, we recommend that you check the cover for the following :-


- so that if you have to cancel your holiday due to, say, illness, you may recover its cost.

Third-party liability

- so that if you have a collision while skiing, you are not bankrupted.

Mountain rescue, including by helicopter

- though you may also buy this cover with your lift pass.

Medical costs

- which you cannot normally cover once you have started your holiday.

Lost, damaged or delayed possessions

- which you cannot normally cover once you have started your holiday.

Many skiers do not even know whether they have helicopter rescue or third-party liability cover. Not taking the former can cost you a lot of money; not having the latter could ruin you.


There are rare occasions when the transfer between Val d’Isère and the airport may be disrupted due to circumstances beyond our control, such as an avalanche, volcanic ash, bad weather or coach breakdown. This could result in considerable additional travel and/or accommodation expenses, if we had to check everyone into a hotel mid-journey, for instance, or change the homeward travel arrangements.


In the event of such a delay, YSE will make all the extra arrangements for all guests, up to £500 per person for necessary additional travel and accommodation expenses that we may incur on your behalf. A small premium for this is automatically included in your holiday cost.
