The owners of this beautiful chalet very sensibly live in it over the summer. He is a refurbisher of chalets. She is a nag. Although the chalet is already perfect, she always makes him improve something. We recently saw him laden with limestone tiles, so we suspect she's on a bathroom mission right now!

 

The sitting-dining room, with its log fire and open-plan kitchen, is great. It has TV (French), DVDs (British) and WiFi (global). Around this living room are three sweet, woody bedrooms with good bathrooms. They have low mezzanines with futons (well, mattresses) for a ninth adult or up to four children. Please note, however, that flight seats may be limited for extra beds, particularly on high season dates.

 

The entire top floor is taken up by the master bedroom. It is bigger than some whole chalets. The bed is vast (4m2!) and the bathroom has an echo. It has both a bath and a power-shower.

 

There is a veritable vista of the village and valley through the vast windows. As at Grande Sassière, next door, this view implies that the chalet is slightly above the valley floor (four minutes’ walk, to be precise). YSE guests don’t seem to do walking any more, so the two chalets share a Land Rover shuttle to run them to or from any point they wish in Val d’Isère between 8.30 and 10am, and from 3.30 to 8pm.

Bedroom 1
(27' x 15') Double (bed 2m square) with good views, occupying all of second floor. Bathroom with bath and shower plus wc.

 

Bedroom 2
Twin (11' x 10') on first floor, with good views. Two mattresses on mezzanine (10' x 8'). Bathroom with wc.

 

Bedroom 3
Double (12' x 10') on first floor, with view west towards La Daille, with small double bed, plus single bed on enclosed mezzanine (7’ x 7’). Bathroom with wc.

 

Bedroom 4
Twin (11' x 9') on first floor, with view east, plus one mattress on mezzanine (11' x 6'). Bathroom with wc.

 

Sitting-Dining Room
(27' x 15') On first floor. Open-plan kitchen (not included in these measurements). Sliding doors to balcony. Log fire. Spectacular views. WiFi.

 

Extra Beds
Half-price extra beds for one adult or up to four extra children, when one party fills the eight main beds. Flight seats for extra beds may be limited on certain dates, and cannot be guaranteed.

  • Silent position, four minutes’ walk from bus, ten from centre, but not two seconds from private YSE morning and afternoon Land Rover shuttle.
  • Ski room with boot warmers.
  • A chef and an assistant who live downstairs.
  • Damage deposit for all bookings.
