This was our first visit to Les Chardons and my teenage son and I had a twin room with our own shower and basin and sharing a toilet with one other room. This saved us £90 each so £180 for the week which added to the value I already felt we had. The chalet hotel is very old, located round the corner from the 17th century church in a really quiet part of the town. In the mornings you can put your warmed boots and gloves on, pick up your skis and walk out the front door, turn right and be on the nursery slopes within a short walk. From our 1st floor window we could see the early sun hitting the top of the east facing Bellevarde slope in the morning. The room was immaculately clean with comfy beds and crisp white bedding with lots of hot water. Christina, Murray and their team looked after us exceptionally well from the moment we arrived. Murray who is the chef presented us with delicious food all week from tasty cooked breakfasts to gourmet three course dinners with canapés beforehand. We both felt very spoilt. We met some lovely guests in the chalet and by the end of the week really thought of it as our home. We feel very lucky to have stumbled upon this chalet and its resident dream team.

We have had a wonderful holiday, and can’t wait to come back. Christina runs the place unbelievably well. She is so charming and incredibly efficient, remembers everything and looks after each and every guest so they really feel cared for. The food was fabulous, absolutely fabulous, lighter than in many chalets, but with perfect portion sizes. The vegetarian cooking was superb. The chalet girls (and boy) are all lovely. They are so friendly, smiley, attentive and helpful. All of them were hard-working and quite charming.

We have just come back from a really great week in Val d’Isere with you, staying at Les Chardons. Christina and her team looked after us very well and Murray and the kitchen crew always amazed us with some delicious food. All of this after a long season with only 1 week to go; it could have been week 3 or 4. Despite some concerns on what the snow would be like, (including some worried looks up at Les Arcs and La Plagne as we drove in!) our faith that there would be good snow left in Val this late was justified (backed up by John’s constant stream of “don’t worry” photo emails!). We found good snow every day and even some fresh-ish powder up on the Grande Motte. It is the first time I have been back to Val d’Isere in a few years (err, like 15…) despite trying, as the family and friends like Austria… Judging from the reaction from family, I think we may be back next year. Thanks very much again to all of you at YSE, here in the UK and in France.

Everything was amazing. Christina runs the chalet-hotel beautifully. She is so lovely and dresses much more smartly than her guests! The girls are all helpful, happy, smiley and friendly. We thought the food in Les Chardons couldn’t get any better, but it has. It is lighter and less rich than in the past, really interesting and well-balanced, though the teenagers would probably have eaten slightly bigger portions… The breakfasts cooked to order before your eyes are brilliant, as are the duck, boeuf en croûte, salmon, pork belly – everything Murray cooked. Tamara from Oxygène, Scott from tdc and Yann le Bozec were all brilliant intructors. We had fab lunches in Edelweiss, Trifollet and Arolay.

That was our best-ever ski holiday! The chalet-hotel is great in every respect. The location is of course unbelievable, but the rooms are nice, the atmosphere is lovely, the staff are a delight and the food is quite fantastic! Christina runs it wonderfully. She is warm and kind and thoughtful, but also very hard-working and with an amazing eye for detail. She doesn’t miss a thing, and is super-professional, but also welcoming and lovely. A squeaky door mentioned in the morning was un-squeaked by afternoon! The girls are fantastic – so kind and friendly and helpful and nice, but they also keep the place absolutely spotless. Murray is an amazing chef. The food is quite superb. It was all delicious, from the eggs at breakfast to the sushi canapés, boeuf en croûte, puddings, cakes – everything. His menu is interesting and well balanced. His portioning is spot-on. You never felt hungry or bloated! Snowberry and Mattis were both excellent, and Surefoot totally saved a lady’s skiing career by sorting out her painful foot for 15€. “The best 15€ I’ve ever spent!” Good meals at the Casa Scara, Vieille Maison, Fondue Factory, Sur La Montagne and Grand Cocor. Fun drinks at the Blizzard, Cave and Folie.

Food is phenomenal, really good, absolutely fantastic, great portion sizes, not too much, excellent. Best scrambled egg I’ve ever had! The pork was exceptional, we really enjoyed the lighter meals during the week too. Vegetarian food was inventive and really tasty all week – superb! The cheese board we paid extra for one night was so good, lots of cheese, plenty on offer, great little extra that is worth paying for. The chalet girls are so friendly, really helpful, couldn’t ask for more, it felt genuine when they asked about your day, they were happy to help always, great group of girls. Christina is very good indeed, organised and has everything running as it should. The location is great and it’s so nice to be in the middle of the village, with a view of the church. This was our first time with YSE – will come back again.

Christina couldn’t be more helpful, she’s a great addition to staying at Les Chardons this season. The staff are always bright and cheerful, and nothing is too much trouble.

Chardons is nice and sociable for a single person. The food was great – especially the beef Wellington, belly pork, cakes, brownies, carrot cake – all good. Christina is very knowledgeable and very helpful with any queries. I had one-to-one lessons for the whole week with Richard Harrison – from total beginner to skiing down red runs in a white-out on the last day – great way to learn to ski!

I think I now have the energy to write and thank YSE for the most wonderful week at Les Chardons – a first for us with YSE and also skiing. Our children have been with YSE before and this time they dragged their parents along. Learning to ski at the age of 52 was actually quite tough but good for my daughters to see their mother completely out of her comfort zone (and most of the time grovelling on the ground in the snow) and they were very sweet telling me each day I was getting a  little bit better! We loved every minute of it and the accommodation, food, transport, was perfect. The girls and Christina looked after us superbly and the food was superb. The ski school was great and my teacher was tolerant to say the least. My husband dislocated his shoulder on the last day and the medical team were superb. John’s advice on taking out the daily insurance was invaluable.

Murray did a great job with children’s food. Children ate at six and enjoyed everything, and parents felt they were safe left in their room while adults ate later. Overall the food was fantastic – the big favourite being the duck closely followed by the fillet steak and the salmon. Puddings, canapés, cakes – all excellent. The chalet staff work together as a very good team and seem happy and helpful which creates a happy environment for guests. The rooms are tidied very well, and the staff are attentive and pleasant.

We had a cracking time, a lovely week, an incredible week, everything was fantastic, we loved Les Chardons, the rooms are excellent, the location is fabulous, Christina runs the place wonderfully – she’s so nice and so efficient – the girls are all absolutely lovely, amazing, super people, always smiling… Ella is Mary Poppins! The chalet was always spotless. Murray’s food was wonderful, so varied, superb gourmet cooking, like eating in a top restaurant every night. The gluten-free, no-sugar, fat-free, lactose-free etc group were beautifully catered for. The canapés, French onion soup, cakes, breakfasts, salmon, lemon tart, beef, duck and absolutely everything were favourites. Brilliant breakfasts. Couldn’t fault any of it. It’s like your own chalet but more fun. For eating out the Cascade is great and amazing value. The Taverne d’Alsace is good. The Farm Shop and the bar next door in Val Village do delicious local food at very reasonable prices. Snowberry was exemplary. Best boots ever! Amazing atmosphere in that shop. Phill Rigby from Mountain Masters was brilliant, as were Olivier and Philippe. Niki at ESF has made a huge difference. Rich and Ellie from New Generation are superb.

A wonderful holiday. Everything was delightful. Christina is ever-present, calm and knowledgeable, and the whole team was really friendly, smiley and helpful – the best team yet at Les Chardons. Murray’s food is amazing and so varied. Wonderful omelettes at breakfast, and his puddings are fab. His portions are perfect. The best restaurant in Val dIsère! Excellent ski lessons from Franz and Philippe at the ESF and Luca from Oxygène. Les Clochetons is an excellent restaurant for the night-off. Lovely food, the best value in town, and they collect you and bring you home.

We all had a fabulous holiday! Christina runs the chalet-hotel wonderfully. She is so efficient, smiley and charming, and her girls are just brilliant. They go the extra mile and make the place a delight. It is spotlessly clean. One person in our group said in the morning that it would be nice if his room had more hooks, and was amazed to find extra hooks screwed to his wall by tea-time. The couple who got engaged were blown away to find their table specially decorated for dinner! The food is amazing, fantastic, delicious – the best yet over 8 or 9 YSE holidays. The portions were perfect, the Asian slant was much appreciated, and so were the perfect soft-boiled eggs at breakfast! All was perfect, the cakes delicious! The vegetarian food was very, very good – as good as, if not better than, the normal food! Snowberry, Mattis and Precision were all very good. Most people went to Snowberry and said it was brilliant. L’Arbre de Vie is an excellent and little-known restaurant (excellent steak). It is near the XV, which is a great bar. And l’Ouillette is a fab place for lunch. The Tête de Solaise is never busy now that the lifts have moved, hence another good place for lunch.

A note to say quite how fantastic our trip was in January. We stayed in Les Chardons and the staff, the food and the general level of helpfulness and attentiveness was extraordinary. Snowberry for hire cannot be underestimated. I used to stay with YSE when I was 12 years old. I am now 31 and thrilled to report that YSE has only gone from strength to strength. We will definitely be back in 2018. Best to all the team at Les Chardons for the rest of the season, and huge thanks.

The chalet staff are chirpy and very helpful, particularly at the end of the week. The food is excellent and well-portioned and timings for the meals is good, though the dining room can feel crowded. The breakfast bar is a big hit and the lounge is great with good games for the kids.

Used Snowberry, Snow Sports and Killy for ski hire – highly recommended and extremely helpful. Also ESF (Eric, Claude and Jean-Luc), Alpine Experience, Oxygene and New Gen for private, off-piste and one-to-one lessons. All really good. The chalet staff made the holiday, they are so attentive, helpful, chatty and knowledgeable. Murray’s food is superb, great portion sizes and variety. The salmon, pork and cakes are the highlights this week. Chardons is in a brilliant location.

The location of Les Chardons is fantastic, and we’re impressed that the bathrooms have been refurbished. The staff are brilliant, very attentive and accommodating – we liked them all. The food was amazing all week, really restaurant standard. We came back because of the food, and it was even better than last year. Overall superb – we’ll be back.

Your chalet staff are first class, very friendly, polite and helpful. Katy and Holly do a great job, Becky very friendly, and Helena very sweet and always makes an effort – really charming. The food was consistently fantastic and a real effort was put into the veggie food served. The food and location make up for the size of the bedrooms. We loved the restaurant vibe and the canapé room!

This was an amazing holiday, as ever. Love the position and the relaxed ambiance at Les Chardons. The food is as good as ever. Scottish is an incredible chef producing food of such quality for 40 or so guests, and Kate managed the chalet beautifully.

Excellent team, lovely girls, they were very helpful and the rooms were immaculate. You cannot fault the food, it was incredible. The food at YSE distinguishes it from every other company. Good house wine too! Portion sizes for some of the women were large but when a half portion was requested it was quickly looked after. Great holiday!

The chalet girls were lovely, very helpful and personable. They work as a great team led by Katie who always goes the extra mile to help guests. Scottish’s cooking is superb and you can see the effort and hard work that goes into every meal. The canapes were fabulous and the desserts were superb. The team in Chardons are 1st class, lovely, very kind and they look after their guests very well. The food is delicious and we loved everything the kitchen team produced. Our favourites were the ham, chicken, beef, canapés, duck, passionfruit cheesecake…. all of it!

It was a good week, we loved Holly and Katie was wonderful – totally exceeded our expectations. We can’t fault the staff, it was a great stay. Our chef Scottish is a legend, the food was constantly brilliant, even the porridge. Also the time of the flight and the organisation at the airport is unsurpassed – great value for money.

The Doctors’ Updates conference group appreciate how accommodating the YSE staff were, from our early breakfasts to the drivers giving us lifts to the conference, etc. They were delightful, competent and exceptional. One member of the party who was ill really appreciated that food was brought up to her room by Katherine who was lovely. Katie is an exceptional leader – incredibly accommodating and talented at dealing with guests and our various demands, some of which can be difficult. The food was gorgeous, a real 10/10, in fact it’s the reason we keep coming with YSE. This was the best yet out of our 5 years with YSE. The chocolate brownies are ‘mind-blowing’. One request: more local wine please!

Your staff are up to the usual standard – really brilliant, awesome, super, fantastic, lovely, efficient. Katie is an excellent manager and Hannah’s smile brightened everyone’s day. We give the food a ‘thumbs up’! It’s very impressive – the high standard of food is why guests continue to come with YSE. It could be considered too rich by some, and the portions are large, but all dietary requirements were excellently catered for. The pork belly, beef, sticky date pudding and canapés were the stand outs of the week. Just an extra note that the service at Medi-Val was excellent and much appreciated.

I was invited to dinner tonight by Dave and Sue D who are staying with you for two weeks, and I must say it was the best meal I’ve had all season. The canapés were excellent, the starter was very good, the main was great and the potatoes were brilliant, and the dessert was gorgeous, as were the chalet girls! Lara and Lucy are delightful – friendly and funny and great with the kids. They even looked after the children while we parents were eating. Lara’s food is amazing, really very, very good. We loved it all. The man who doesn’t like fish loved the salmon! The kids loved their food. They ate things they wouldn’t even try at home! The girls were really flexible and patient on timings, and on the one occasion when we hit the après a bit hard and were very late for dinner, met us at the door with large glasses of iced water!! Lucy looked after us really well. She’s always happy and smiley, and even brilliant at origami! Snowberry were fantastic. Quick, easy and afficient. And their end-of-week pick-up service is such a big advantage! The children had brilliant lessons from Manuel and Rachel of Progression. The four-hour lessons Progression do are such a good idea, because in a three-hour lesson about one hour is spent getting to the slopes and another getting back. We had excellent meals at the Edelweiss, Tête de Solaise, 1789, Baraque and Ouillette.

A wonderful week. We loved the chalet and particularly the fab Lara and Lucy. They are both lovely and a great laugh! Lara’s food was absolutely wonderful. We loved the fillet of beef, the duck’s breast, the pork belly, all of her cakes – every single thing she cooked, in fact. Snowberry are the perfect hire shop. We enjoyed food at the Corniche and drinks at the Blizzard.

Lara and Lucy work together as a very good team and we thought they were amazing, very helpful with our baby and generally excellent. Lara’s organisation in such a small kitchen is impressive. Her food was quite fantastic – the fishcakes were a big favourite. We got skis from snowberry – good service. Private ski guide Christopher Cardare was very good. Ginny from the Hotel Brussels gave a very good pregnancy massage. Chez Nano was good for the night out and we enjoyed lunches at the Solaise restaurant and Grand Orse.

Chalet Charlotte was fantastic. This was my first chalet holiday – how can we go back to self-catering after that! Lara and Lucy were flexible and engaging and so nice, with great attention to detail, fixing things the same day we mentioned anything. The whole holiday was incredibly well-organised – ski passes, ski hire – all effortless, and the chalet was lovely. Our favourite meals were the duck and the pork belly, especially the crackling! The veggie food was gorgeous with fabulous flavours and variety. And the cakes were A-MAZ-ING! We love the bedside lights in the new upstairs bedrooms. Grand Cocor for the night out – enjoyed it! And the Taverne d’Alsace is a lovely place to unwind for pre-dinner drinks. One three-hour lesson for three people with Phill Harrison from Mountain Masters on our first day – he was brilliant and it was the best lesson ever. We’ve never had such attention to fitting hired boots as at Snowberry. The way they collect your skis at the end of the week is a bonus. We’ll be back!

Lara and Hattie were both excellent, amazing, superb. Lovely girls with a great attitude. The chalet was spotless. The food was exceptional, knockout. Favourites were the beef, the white onion soup, the duck, the apple cake – but it was all lovely. Could YSE make it clearer that while guests have to pay for mixers, tonics etc, you’re happy to provide beer or soft drinks at dinner to those who don’t drink wine? Snowberry were tremendous. Nico from EV2 was a good instructor, and we had a very good dinner at the Corniche on the night off.

We had an amazing week! Lara and Hattie are lovely, really nice, very professional and very fun. Lara’s food is quite delicious. We photographed nearly every dish to make our friends jealous. The beef en croûte was to die for. Her cakes… I’ll dream about the lemon drizzle cake for weeks! Hattie keeps the chalet spotless. We loved La Baraque, had excellent lessons from Evolution 2’s Manu and from Martin McKay, and hired very happily from Snowberry.

What a fantastic week! The chalet is so nice now with its new bedroom and bathrooms. Lara and Hattie are brilliant, and Lara is a superb cook. We loved her beef en croute, chicken, scotch quails’ eggs, risotto, carrot cake – actually everything! And Hattie is lovely and keeps the chalet absolutely spotless!

I really wanted to let you know how amazing both Freya and Ione were looking after us in Chalet Charlotte when we came to stay a couple of weeks ago. I was expecting good service to be fair, but they truly went above and beyond and I could not believe the quality of Freya’s food especially considering she hasn’t had a huge amount of catering experience. They were just lovely, extremely hospitable and really made a difference to our holiday. The whole experience was fantastic from making the booking, taking the flight, the transfer and staying at the chalet. Incredible value for money. I can see why you have such a huge number of returning guests, we shall certainly be returning! Please pass our feedback onto the ladies.

We’ve just arrived home from a fantastic week in Chalet Charlotte. The whole experience was brilliant with Freya and Lucy really making the week perfect. The highlight of the chalet for us was the food which far exceeded our expectations and really was up there with any top restaurant. Freya is clearly very talented and her commitment to delivering a menu to such a high standard really made the trip special. Perfect skiing conditions always helps too!

Snowberry good as ever. Leonard at ESF was very good and very friendly. Both chalet girls were very efficient and the chalet was spotless. Dinners were brilliant – amazing variety. James was very chatty and charming and very willing. Clochetons on the night off was v.v good. Trifollet also good. Loved the YSE shower gel!

Fantastic service from YSE who seem to have thought of everything to give their clients an experience they will want to return to time and time again. Flights and transfers were all easy and efficient. The chalet itself was of great quality and kept clean and homely by the chalet girls. The chef was brilliant and very receptive to the groups’ needs and wants, adapting the menu throughout the week to please everyone. The chalet location is great, out of town but serviced by a very regular and free bus service. It’s right next to the Fornet telepherique, giving access to some of the best and quietest skiing in the resort. One evening we were visited by a rather wobbly middle aged man with a face like an old leather glove who turned out to be John Yates-Smith, part owner of YSE. He stayed for dinner and kept us all very amused with stories of his time in the resort (perhaps YSE should offer it as an optional extra!). A great experience worth every penny. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

James was superb and really good with the kids. His cooking is unbelievable! Particular favourites were the asparagus truffle canapés which he then turned into an amazing soup the following day. Pancakes for breakfast was also a winner! Sapphire and Hannah kept the place clean and made us feel at home. Ski Republic were really good value for money (€35 for kids’ skis, poles, boots and helmet!). Snowberry were efficient and had comfy ski bookts, and ESF were great.

James and Sapphire are a lovely couple and a good team. The food was superb. Snowberry were good for ski hire. Ski instructor Gavin from TDC v good; beginner snowboard instruction from Oxygene was good and BASS lessons with Craig also good despite the awful weather. Jean Christophe from Alpine Experience found good areas to ski. Eating out included the Atelier d’Edmund – expensive but worth it, and the Table d’Alain.

Great holiday. It’s a lovely chalet and being in Fornet is brilliant. James is an excellent chef, passionate about cooking and we loved everything he cooked. Sapphie and Hannah keep the chalet spotless. We all hugely enjoyed the atmosphere in the chalet. We had excellent lessons from Angus and Francois at TDC. For ski hire, Snowberry are superb, but some of us got excellent skis very reasonably from Precision.

It’s a lovely chalet, we’ve stayed here before. James’ food was very good, and Sapphie and Hannah make their guests very welcome, and keep the chalet spotless. We loved the Clochetons restaurant and their pick-up service is very convenient, even if we have never been as frightened in our lives!

Snowberry were very good, Oxygene were great and Stefan brilliant. Sapphire and Georgia in La Couchire were great and James is brilliant and sociable and his food is superb – always the perfect amount. We love the downstairs living area.

All staff were terrific and very responsive and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they all worked really hard. James is an astonishingly good chef and we loved that he seemed to really enjoy his work. Every course was a pleasant surprise. The best ski holiday and the best chef we’ve had.

This was an absolutely brilliant week with the most amazing food and lovely staff in a beautiful, spotless chalet. It was a top restaurant meal every night and we can’t praise James and Sapphire enough. Nothing was too much trouble, the atmosphere was great, and we will be back.

We’ve had a fabulous week, and the several very disparate groups got on marvellously. It’s a lovely chalet, the food was absolutely outstanding, the chalet was spotless and the girls amazing.

Top score! The chalet staff were all lovely, but the food was absolutely amazing. We gave Murray carte blanche to do what he wanted and he excelled. Even better than last year, we’re very happy and will be back!

We wanted to pass on some feedback for our stay at Couchire last week. We have now been on a few YSE trips and always found the standards to be very high compared to lots of other operators we have tried and this is probably why you have such a loyal customer base. However our stay last week with Cristina, Lauren & Murray reached a new amazing high. The team provided for our every need, always anticipating our requirements and certainly know how to achieve excellent customer service levels. (They would make for an excellent training & development team for any new inductees/trainees and we think Lauren will learn a lot under the influence and guidance from Cristina & Murray). Murray topped this off with some outstanding culinary delicacies – it was a truly fantastic week, all when the weather wasn’t the best we have experienced in Val. If you get the opportunity, please could you pass on our appreciation to the guys at Couchire. Very happy & quickly becoming overweight!

Murray’s food was superb, outstanding and wonderful – better than five-star restaurants in London! No wonder Jamie Oliver liked it! We’ve never eaten so well. Murray is so calm and laid-back, yet has the cleanest kitchen we’ve ever seen. Our favourites were the pork belly, the beef wellington, the duck, the parfait – it was all amazing. Tory and Becky were lovely and kept the chalet so clean!

Henry couldn’t be faulted. We couldn’t believe she stepped in at such short notice and produced such fantastic food. Lucy and Christina take great pride in everything they do and couldn’t do more to help. The chalet was lovely and clean and we didn’t want to leave! We also really appreciated the extra help given to the member of our party who was injured. The food was exceptional and our particular favourites were the pork, ham hock and beef. The boot warmers are excellent and we loved the chalet location, all in all a fabulous holiday.

The staff are a brilliant team, and we had an awesome holiday. The staff are seen but not heard and really know when to interact. Different groups of guests become friends very quickly. We all noticed the cleanliness of the chalet – not a speck of dust anywhere, and we couldn’t believe it was only Becky’s second week, she’s so professional. The staff in La Couchire are like a well-oiled machine – absolutely outstanding – though Murray ruined our day off – his food is so good we couldn’t enjoy the food on the chalet staff night off as it was nowhere near as good! We have had the best week ever! Lauren is fantastic, cheery and sunny and lovable, and nothing is too much trouble. All her food was utterly fantastic and we photographed every single dish. She looked after the diabetic beautifully, adapting her menus. James brought us vast quantities of logs for the lovely fireplace. We had excellent meals at the Grande Ourse and the Fondue Factory, and particularly appreciated the lovely loos in the brand new Lounge at the top of Solaise.

Fantastic chalet, although the beams are low. Wonderful super-human staff at the highest standard. All YSE staff seem even more friendly than ever this year. The food was delicious – the best chalet food we’ve ever had. Great portion sizes too. It would be useful to tell guests what the evening meal is in the morning in case of any adjustments. Also it would be nice to be able to invite people for dinner… We had difficulty booking a massage – guests need to know this a month before their holiday as they get booked up. Finally, the pisteurs do an amazing job!

A cracking week. Tom and Lucy are a great chef and a great host. They were exceptional and we absolutely loved them both. The chalet is lovely. The food was lovely from all the different kinds of eggs on offer at breakfast to the cakes and evening meals, especially the duck salad, pork belly and panacotta. It’s a testament to Tom’s skills that we were comparing him to a Michelin-starred restaurant.

As your records may show we’ve been with YSE for some years now. The YSE model is simple and it works for us – good food, Sunday transfer, exclusive travel etc., all good stuff. I’d just like to say that we are always impressed with the chefs and the chalet girls. However I feel it is worthy of mention when our expectations are surpassed. Last week many of Sam’s creations were sublime. Sam was ably assisted by Harriet and I have to say that her demeanour, social skills and general manner were the best I’ve ever experienced. Do let her know that she was really appreciated. Praise where praise is due. Sam and Harriet really made La Grande Sassière work well.

Gorgeous chalet, we loved the views, the hot tub and the Land Rover service! Sam is an exceptional chef and his is the best food we have ever eaten in a chalet, and he responded really well to all of our requests. We are definitely coming back next year, if only to steal the brilliant professional Nespresso coffee machine! Harriet is really sweet and keeps the chalet spotless. Marcus the driver is charming, flexible, welcoming and punctual. We had a good lesson from Maurisso at Oxygène, though Davide and Albi don’t speak English well enough. Simon Cook from Rebel Alliance is a brilliant snowboard instructor. We loved the Casserole for fondue and raclette. You can have as much cheese as you like – just ask! Finally, beware: bookings for La Fruitière seem to go to the Fruitière in Val Thorens!

This is a fabulous chalet and we’ve had a wonderful holiday. Sam’s food is the best food we’ve ever eaten, anywhere. He is a talented, inventive chef and all of the meals were tip-top! He coped brilliantly with our surprise vegetarian and unannounced Muslim. Saturday’s steak was unforgettable, as was the panna cotta – actually all the desserts, actually everything! Harriet and Judy are lovely and keep the chalet spotless. Their attention to detail is amazing, and they were so friendly and helpful. Lewis was a really nice driver, always available and punctual. Marcus was the same on Lewis’s day off. We felt spoilt rotten!

Elaine Bunyan from the ESF is a fabulous instructress. Much more than just an instructress, she looks after her pupils, tells them all sorts of interesting information, even drove one of our group home to the chalet when she was tired. Also an independent guide called Matthieu gave us our best day ever off-piste – careful, knowledgeable and really nice. Eskiador was an excellent hire shop. We loved meals at the Grande Ourse, Tête de Solaise, Sachette and Chez Paulo.

What a great holiday! Sam is a very talented chef, a gifted cook who will go a long way, although he is extremely modest and unassuming. He is more relaxed and confident than last year, and his food was even better! His various eggs at breakfast were superb, he knocked duck out of the park, his steak, his raspberry crème brûlée – everything was delicious. Particularly the YSE wine. Lucy is adorable and fabulous, smiley, attentive, incredibly organised – just the best ever! The chalet is spotless and her dynamic with Sam works very well. She keeps him in line! The holiday was amazing and fabulous. We really noticed how clean the chalet was in the kitchen and generally around the chalet. Lucy is fantastic – discreet but attentive and seemed to know what we wanted before we did! Lucy and Sam work well as a team, and the food was excellent. Sam coped well with vegan and GF diets. He should write a recipe book! We loved the pork belly, goats’ cheese with beetroot starter, soups, blackberry sorbet, raspberry crême brulée and beef cheek. Lewis is a great driver, very safe, and went beyond the call of duty, sometimes out of his normal hours. Really impressed.

I know when we book with YSE it’s going to be an amazing holiday, everything has been thought out from the hassle free airport timings, arrivals, John’s meet and greet, his amusing, detailed useful speech on the coach, your professional helpful staff at all times, beautiful food!! We have tried most ski resorts as friends have told us we were boring going to the same resort, we have had crack of dawn starts, hours at check-in, no-one turning up for hours on landing, staff that were unhelpful, unclean worn out accommodation, the cooking has been dry, burnt or not even arrived!!! Won’t name these unprofessional companies!!! We’ve been using YSE for approx 20 yrs+ and recommended you to all our friends. Thank you for being no 1 company in the Alps. There’s a lot of effort and thought put into every little detail, thank you all (including the booking team!!). We will definitely try to come back next year with enough to fill a chalet. Charlotte and Joey were great and helpful at booking tables for us and they kept the rooms and the chalet really clean and tidy. We appreciated the little details that make a difference. We LOVE driver Jason – he’s so patient and cheery! Unbelievable food – best ever on a ski holiday. Sam is impeccable, incredible and we wanted to take him home. His food is just wonderful and he handled the coeliac diet brilliantly without any fuss (by the way both Spars now have a good selection of gluten-free basics: bread, crackers etc). Our favourites were the beef wellington, pear and blue cheese salad, soups, lemon drizzle cake, the breakfasts, the most perfect poached eggs – absolutely everything. Juliet and Charlotte were adorable and kep the chalet perfectly. Also the beds are amazingly comfortable. We loved driver Jason because he’s a gentleman! Overall a superb holiday.

We had a fabulous holiday as ever with YSE. The chalet was great and we were very lucky in that the other guests were really fun and interesting. Sam was a wonderful chef and Edie, our chalet girl, was gorgeous – a lovely personality together with being a good and intelligent conversationalist. She was totally attentive to everybody’s needs. In a mixed group chalet I don’t think it’s always easy to serve a mixture of house wine and wines from John’s wine list but she managed it seamlessly. Harry, our landrover driver, couldn’t do enough for us – pick ups and drop offs on time, totally reliable, carried our skis … fab! The only thing you could improve was the weather! Perhaps next time.

Our chef Sam is a babe! Sweet and friendly, a very good chef and very diligent, and his kitchen is so clean. Alice was wonderful and couldn’t do enough for us. She learnt all our names very quickly which was impressive. She’s very organised. Jason the driver is brilliant, such a happy guy with a smile on his face even when we were hungover in the morning. He also did an excellent job with the hot tub which we used til ‘silly o’clock’ in the morning. The food was incredible and Sam is too modest about how he introduced each dish, saying ‘oh it’s just such and such’ as if it was something ordinary, but it was amazing. Our veggies loved their food and didn’t feel they were missing out. Highlights of the week: peanut butter cake and the parfait with banana. Special mention to Larry the Land Rover – it’s a fantastic service and went the extra mile (oh dear). Love the heated seats.

The chalet is lovely and although we always come at this time of year, we have never seen so much snow. We adored being at Le Fornet. Jonny is a fabulous cook. We absolutely loved everything she did. Alex kept the chalet spotless, was efficient and friendly and fun. Both girls were just lovely, helpful and attentive, and nothing was too much trouble. We’ve felt so spoilt. We will definitely be back next year, same time, same place.

This was our best ski holiday yet, and we’ve had a lot. Snowberry were excellent – it runs like a military operation and the collection is great and one less hassle for guests. Steph from Pro-Snowboarding was highly recommended, and the ESF were good too. Alex kept the chalet very clean and was always willing to help. The girls were brilliant fun and very pleasant. All the food was excellent. They catered for the celiac in our group very well.

I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to YSE for a fabulous skiing holiday last week. A personal thank you to Fiona for accommodating my party in chalet Grand Torsai after my initial booking was moved. The chalet was beautiful, spacious and comfortable. The views were breath taking and access to the slopes in Le Fornet just perfect. The hot tub was luxury after a long day’s skiing and again thoroughly appreciated. We did not use the sauna on our visit.

The YSE staff, Lucy and Joey, were great hosts and looked after us all very well. Both were friendly, pleasant and accommodated our needs. The food, as always from YSE, was excellent and very enjoyable and the wine was much appreciated with the evening meal. The family who shared Grand Torsai with my party were great company and both parties got on well all week and we shared many laughs together.

Le Fornet is a beautiful little hamlet, very peaceful and relaxing and Val d’Isere was also very accessible either by a walk or the free bus shuttle. The skiing in Le Fornet is great, we loved the wide slopes, beautiful views and not too busy slopes. Overall my party were very impressed with Grand Torsai and would definitely stay in that chalet again.

Please also pass on our thanks to John, because the organisation for the pick up from Grenoble to Val d’Isere and back was excellent and we loved his information speech relayed on the coach. We will certainly return.

Thanks again for everything – yet again a holiday to remember and definitely another visit – YSE look after their guests so well they spoil us to the extent you do not want to go anywhere else to ski.

Joey is a great chef and very accommodating, and Tory was lovely and worked very well with Joey, and we had great fun with both of them. Highlights of the week were the steak and the curry that we requested, and all the cakes and breakfast. We loved the location of the chalet and thought the bus service was great. John’s CD on the bus was much appreciated and very informative for people new to Val d’Isère. Absolutely nothing to fault: a fantastic week and we will be coming back next year.

Really good chalet. The staff are friendly and Stig’s food was excellent. He was injured and Kat took over and her meals were also outstanding and the transfer between them was seamlessly efficient. The children had good simple healthy meals and ate well. Ski school Progression were very good, and the children enjoyed their instructor. Little Chicks were good for childcare. The nanny was Isla.

The chalet is very comfortable, and Georgina and Sara were perfect and make a real effort around the chalet. The food was delicious, Stig is exceptional. The breakfasts were amazing. Fondue Factory was brilliant for a group of the size of ours. Snowberry were excellent, and Phillip Claymore (private) great for off piste.

This is a fabulous chalet. Everything is perfect except that some of the old wood is still a bit splintery! The sofas are so comfy we want to know where to buy the same. What a great dining table! The staff were the best we’ve ever known. So helpful and accommodating, absolutely faultless, they were discreet and not in our faces but always ready to give any help we needed. Stig’s food is exceptional! His beef, pork belly, salmon, lemon drizzle cake, duch, cauliflower pakoras, brownies, asparagus canapés – it was all unbelievable.  We hired from Oxygène who are very good. We had a lovely meal at the Yule hotel and found the Fondue Factory rather hit and miss.

I was part of the group from Dublin that stayed with you in Chalet d’Isère last week and I wanted to take a minute to thank the company and particularly the staff working directly with us for being such an important part of a really enjoyable week for us all. We’ve done these trips with catered chalet accommodation before and while they were all unbelievable experiences, this year was head and shoulders above the rest and that was down to the quality of the group you have working for you in this chalet. Credit where credit is due – they were friendly, helpful and pleasant throughout making the entire group feel comfortable all week, so I hope this reaches the person who hired them as well so they know that they’re also nailing it! An incredible week! It’s a wonderful chalet, and Jo, Sarah, Georgina and Lulu made it amazingly welcoming. Jo’s food was fabulous, better than any restaurant in town. She is calm and relaxed and always smiling, yet cooks as well as any chef. We particularly enjoyed the beef, duck, fish, carrot gratin – everything was quite perfect. We also loved the malbec! The girls are gorgeous, and keep the chalet perfectly clean. Sarah is an entertainment in herself – she is such a character! We ate very well at the Taverne d’Alsace, the Barillon and Bouïda, but not as well as in the chalet. My younger brother recommended YSE, and I’ve been emailing all my friends telling them it’s like Masterchef! We hired from Oxygène and found it excellent. Snowberry service skis very well.

We will definitely be back! Stig, Sarah and George are a great team – friendly, attentive and hard-working. The chalet is spotlessly clean. Stig’s food is amazing. Snowberry were excellent for ski hire – all ordered online. Instructor Simon McCombe from Mountain Masters as good as ever. Stig the chef’s food at the chalet was excellent, probably even better than two years ago in Juniper. He’s very accommodating and understanding – we really loved it. Chalet host Lulu brightened up every room she walked into. Both girls are very attentive and kept everything clean – not easy in such a big chalet with so many floors. Overall loved the chalet and had a great holiday.

Just wanted to say thank you for a truly superb week skiing. The whole family absolutely loved it! MDR really is such a lovely chalet and Scotty is such a huge asset to it! His food was beyond delicious and was even better than I expected! I can’t not mention how fantastic Marcus was, so helpful and nothing was ever too much trouble! The snow was pretty good and we were so lucky to have a fantastic morning up on the Grand Motte after some fresh snow – we all got totally over excited and went up and down about 8 times. I rather wish I had stayed out for another week after seeing the weather forecast. Hopefully we will try and nab the same chalet, same week for next season…

Ella was the best chalet assistant we’ve ever had – great character, charming and efficient and she really made a difference. It was mayhem with all the children but she went beyond the call of duty making sure they had everything they needed. Scotty was as excellent as ever. We’ve had a fabulous week! Scotty’s food is just wonderful – everything. His dairy-free alternatives were amazing. And he is such an entertaining character! Bertie’s Bus, as the Land Rover became known, was a brilliant service. Snowberry are fantastic for ski hire. We had great lunches at the Tête de Solaise, Tufs, Bellevarde, Gourmandine and Fondue Factory but were rather disappointed by l’Arbre de Vie.

What a lovely holiday – we’re never going to self-cater again! It’s a lovely chalet, and Scottie’s food is exquisite – we photographed every dish and sent it to our friends to make them jealous. We loved it all, and the children ate things they’d never even try at home! We loved the Thai salmon, the chicken, every cake – in fact everything except possibly the beef cheek, and that was probably only because we had laughed too much about which end of the cow the cheeks had come from! The vegetarian food was inspired – Scottie really pulled out the stops. Issy is extremely efficient, keeps the place spotless and lays a wonderful fire. The dining room is even nicer when the sliding door across the stairs is closed. Snowberry is really, really good. The Fondue Factory is rather underwhelming – poor cheese fondue and very poor chocolate fondue…

Where do we start? What a fantastic holiday! Scotty is getting even better, if that is possible! His food is out of this world. All of it. The beef cheek, the gammon, the steak – absolutely everything. He is such a lovely guy and such good fun. When we die we all want to come back as Scotty Manning! He is totally relaxed and entertaining, yet his kitchen is OCD clean, and his cooking is incredible. Issy is super, brilliant, lovely and mega-efficient. The chalet is spotless, and she remembers everything. One lady liked ice for her wine. She asked once. After that it happened automatically! Snowberry are brilliant. Gabi from the ESF is a wonderful off-piste instructor. Great lunches at the Edelweiss, Trifollet and Sachette, and a lovely dinner at Les Tufs.

Snowberry, great service, very expensive, but good ski boot fit. Surefoot were terrible. Ski 2000, we were very happy with service. In the chalet Olivia and Scotty were unbelievable, Olivia was lovely and we enjoyed Scotty’s stories. Lewis was very friendly and chatty, always on time, fantastic Land Rover. The food was outstanding all week, just brilliant, what a chef! Alpine Experience for off piste, very very good: they seriously know their stuff. Restaurant: Les Tufs, very good, always delivers.

Our first YSE holiday, but it won’t be the last. The chalet is lovely. Scotty is an amazing chef. His food is excellent, just delicious. The duck, steak, pork belly beef cheek, salmon, Thai chicken – it was all perfectly cooked, with such tender meat, and beautifully presented. His kitchen is OCD spotless! Georgia is lovely, delightful, so attentive, so good at cleaning and so pretty! (This from a lady.) Both staff are charming, hard-working, skilled and fun. Snowberry is brilliant. The Lodge, Cascade and Sachette were all excellent restaurants and good value.

The chalet was unbelievably clean. Georgia is great – very attentive and makes amazing fires. Scottie is great but quite shy – needs to come out of his shell more!!! Best ever food, beyond amazing. It was less rich than previous years and really outstanding. Portion sizes are perfect and we loved the veg on the side. Bertie is a good driver, very attentive, punctual and charming! For eating out we recommend L’Etable d’Alain for the night off, and the Ferme des Trois Capucines in Tignes which is excellent. Les Tufs and Bananas are great for cheaper options. All brilliant!

Scottie is a good bloke and an amazing chef. His food was all delicious and best of all were the beef, the duck, the pork, the ham, the first night butternut squash tart, the scotch eggs, the tartiflette canapé – everything! Emma was lovely, attentive, helpful and great, and kept the chalet spotless. Land Rover drivers Harry and James were efficient, punctual, helpful and fun.

The chalet was great and the log fire was lovely. Emma and Scotty very accommodating, non-intrusive, sharing a joke or a chat sometimes and getting on with things at others. It’s a very smoothly run operation right from getting on the plane at Gatwick all the way through to the return home. Jason our driver was very helpful and would be there in five minutes whenever we needed him. The food in the chalet was exquisite and Scotty goes the extra mile, for instance when he made a birthday cake for one of our party. Nothing was too much trouble, and we loved having pancakes on pancake day. An awesome week.

I meant to write sooner to thank you all at YSE for another excellent week in Val d’Isere! I was lucky enough to stay at Chalet Moraine which I enjoyed enormously. Aside from being a lovely property in a great spot, we were perfectly looked after by Hattie and Olivia. We stayed with you at Le Grizny last year but I have to say Hattie’s food was by far the best I’ve had during five consecutive years in Tignes and Val d’Isere. I really couldn’t fault a single meal, it was all truly excellent. Should Hattie be with you again next year, please do let me know as I will gladly book to enjoy her food, and the skiing too of course.

I just wanted to drop you a line to say what a truly wonderful, wonderful time we have all had at La Moraine. Right from being met by Liv and Hattie waiting at the front door when we arrived, through to waving us off when we left, it was a wonderful stay. The true highlight of the holiday was the food. In all our years of skiing we have never had such a high standard both in terms of quality of food to the simply amazing presentation. Never knew that simple mashed potato (sieved of course, not just mashed) could be made to resemble Mont Blanc so realistically! Don’t even start us on the divine pork belly! We could go on and on… Our rooms, bathrooms and sitting room were spotless each day. Thank you YSE!

We had a great time at La Moraine. Skiing with my mates is like herding cats, so a self travel chalet allowed us a bit more flexibility. Issy & Hattie were fantastic, and had loads of great advice.  The food and wine lists were excellent. The chalet location was great – not far to stumble back from Cocco Ricco, and easy for Olympique and Solaise. Snowberry were great for ski hire, and it was easy to swap race skis for something a bit more off-pistey when the snow came. La Luge was great for the chalet night out – surprisingly good value too.

Chalet Moraine was just as described. Good location, and comfortable. The chalet staff, Hattie and Vicky, were great, and nothing was too much trouble. The chalet was immaculate and the food stunning. The girls were a credit to YSE.

Moraine is well-appointed for the slopes with an excellent traditional experience. Hattie made the most delicious menu topped off with the best Christmas dinner. Vicki kept the chalet beautifully presented and was a very charismatic hostess. Snowberry were excellent. We had new season’s (indeed brand new) equipment and they were most helpful when one of our group who had bought boots in the UK had problems. Private lessons with Yann who was listed on the YSE site. He was excellent. We chopped and changed group composition every day and he took great care of everyone. He was happy to take the 13 year old to the snow park,  helped to rebuild the confidence of two members of our group and he raced the fastest member down La Face. The chalet is basic but good value. Vicky was a great cook and Hattie very sociable. A couple of members of our group were variously unwell or had to work and they were most helpful and flexible in terms of doing their work around us. The food was good. We had some voracious eaters and some fussy eaters and they were flexible in terms of the meals and portion sizes that they served. For the night off we went to the raclette place on the blue run behind the chalet (can’t remember its name). They sent a mini bus which was great. The ambiance was great and the food was good if a little pricey (but that is probably down to the Euro exchange rate!)

Becky our chalet host was knowledgeable of the area and accommodating in the chalet – very pleased how clean and warm the chalet was. Tom’s scrambled eggs are excellent, he has a special way of making them. Bascially all good! Carte Neige definitely worth getting. One of our group was rescued off the mountain and it would have cost about €800 otherwise. Thanks also to John for his help and advice with sorting out the broken knee.

Tom was fantastic – we couldn’t believe he spent one entire day making a pudding. Both members of staff went above and beyond and accommodated our requests without any fuss, and were fun to be around. It was a superb holiday and a fabulous experience. Can we book for next year already? Everything was amazing from Bertie and the CD on the bus, and the painless ski pass arrangements, to chef Christian’s baking a cake with our two year-old! Christian is an amazing chef. He handled our Hindu, vegetarian dietary requirements without any hesitation. His food was all really interesting and creative, and we loved the Asian touches. His tofu and cucumber dish, tomato and beetroot consommé, Mexican evening, cakes – everything was incredible. We hope he’ll be back next year! Meghan and Rachel are lovely, so helpful with the children, and keep the place so clean! Snowberry gave the wrong sized boots and skis to the children at the start. Fortunately, our instructor took the kids back to the shop to get it all changed. Elaine and Dominique from the ESF were absolutely fantastic. Laurent Bastian was good, but it was more of an old-fashioned lesson, with the children just following him. British instructor Nick Quinn is very, very good too. We had good lunches everywhere from Chez Paolo and the l’Ouillette to the Panoramique.

Mattis Sport was brilliant and so helpful. ESF Nikki is a great contact – maybe you should give her number out in an email a month before travel so people can book through her earlier. ESF ski instructor Isabelle was great. The chalet des Neiges staff were amazing and attentive and had some great recommendations. The food was 5 star, like eating in a restaurant every day. Christian is like Harry Potter from the cheffing wizzarding world, and so good at coping with dietary requirements. The house wine was good and we also liked being able try different wine. The swimming pool is brilliant!

Brilliant holiday in a lovely chalet. Christian’s food is so inventive and so beautifully presented. Every single dish was somebody’s favourite, though the hake was particularly well received. Megan and Rachel kept the chalet spotless. They are lovely, brilliant, sunny and funny! We had excellent lessons from Mountain Masters Al. He’s so charming and such a good instructor. Snowberry were superb. They fixed someone’s own boot for nothing! The YSE wine list is fantastic, though we’d appreciate bigger wine glasses. We had excellent lunches in the Vieille Maison, Tufs (lovely rosé!), Barillon, Ouillette, Clochetons and Chez Nano.

Superb holiday, in spite of six and a half days of poor weather! Christian’s cooking is absolutely amazing. He is a fabulous chef. We loved his salmon, duck – no we’re just going to argue about what we liked best! It was all perfect. His vegetarian food was brilliant. Meghan and Rachel were great, lovely and very attentive and kept the chalet incredibly clean and tidy. We had excellent lessons from the ESF once they’d found us an English-speaking instructor, and from James Allen. Also Scott from TDC took us off-piste guiding and was probably the most safety-conscious guide we’ve ever had. Snowberry is a super ski hire shop. We had excellent meals at Edelweiss, Panoramique, Triffolet, Etable d’Alain, Barillon and Fruitière. And a poor lunch at Bellevarde…

We have been to this chalet several times before because we love it. It was particularly good this time. Megan assisted by Georgie keep it spotless and the food from Christian is fantastic, absolutely delicious, and certainly as good as we’ve ever had. Vegetarians and meat-eaters all loved his cooking. Our girls Lara and Daisy were excellent and responded to all requests. The chalet was spotless and the atmosphere was lovely. Josh’s food was thte best ever – he is an asset to the company and definitely works too hard. No favourites – everything was incredible.

Lara in our chalet was really good and she was very helpful in organising our ski lessons. Both girls were really super, relaxed and very attentive – top rate! The food was outstanding – Josh is an extremely accomplished chef and his food was better than most restaurants and definitely the best food we’ve had in a chalet – phenomenal! We would have liked to stay another week just to have all the meals all over again. Over all a double thumbs-up for the whole week. As a whole operation YSE has it spot on from start to finish.

The chalet and staff were excellent – we cannot praise them highly enough. Magalie and Lara were absolutely excellent with our children which meant we were really able to relax. The food was of an exceptionally high standard and Josh has a bright future ahead of him! We were so impressed with the desserts we took photos of them. The children’s meals were thoughtful adaptations of the adult dishes. We have no doubt we’ll be booking again.

Everything was absolutely brilliant!! Jo the chef: OMG! Amazing!! So lovely, so sweet, so unassuming. Lovely to have around, but never in your face. A wonderful holiday. Jo’s cooking is amazing. Absolutely everything, from her gorgeous scrambled and poached eggs to her pork belly, fillet beef, salads, all cakes, all puddings was incredible! Millie is sweet and attentive, and keeps the chalet spotless. The two girls work brilliantly together. We had excellent lessons from ESF Isabelle and Mountain Masters Tansy. Snowberry are incredibly efficient, and Unplugged is very good for snowboards. We had good meals at the (incredibly hot) Casserole and excellent Trifollet. Service at Sur La Montagne is painfully slow…

We’ve had a wonderful holiday. We love the chalet and particularly the girls. Jo’s food is brilliant, with the beef, duck, coq roti, salmon, chicken and beef cheek particularly memorable, thought it was all totally delicious. She catered really well for the no-cheese no-tomatoes person. Millie is superb, she works non-stop, keeping the chalet spotless. She’s so warm and welcoming, always smiling yet with a very good eye for detail. The two girls seem to get on really well so the atmosphere in the chalet is really nice.

Mattis very good for ski hire, very willing to change skis several times. Location very convenient. The chalet the girls were great – always around and joining in but without being intrusive. Always happy to help. The food was excellent. Beef en croute and beef cheek were big favourites. L’Arelait was awesome. We don’t remember a better meal on a ski holiday, and great value (3 courses and wine for 40 euros).

A wonderful week. Jo and Harriet are a lovely team, work very hard and get on with each other so well. The atmosphere they create is perfect. The food was amazing, probably the best food I have ever eaten anywhere in my life! It was very varied and all of it was lovely. The holiday could not have been better, though it’s probably worth advising the future guests to walk on the snow beside the road up the hill.

Lovely chalet. Everything was perfect. Kate and Catherine were utterly brilliant. Kate’s food is fantastic – the duck, the beef, the cake – ah, the carrot cake! – absolutely everything, every day. We hired from Mattis for a change and found them very good. Being able to rent a locker in the shop is so convenient! Mark Jones from Mountain Masters is an amazing coach. We enjoyed meals at the Casserole and particularly the Trifollet.

It’s a lovely chalet and we had a fabulous week. Jessie’s food was really good, amazing, absolutely perfect. She is a fantastic cook, and her presentation is incredible. We photographed every dish, and they look like illustrations from an expensive cookery book! Everything tasted as good as it looked, her portions were smack-on, and it could not have been better. Catherine (replaced once by Lulu) kept the chalet unbelievably clean, and was friendly, helpful and lovely. We had a wonderful day off-piste with Marilyne from the Bureau des Guides. We hired excellent off-piste equipment from the Mountain Pro Shop.

The chalet was fabulous and a step up, the staff were fantastic, and the food amazing and delicious. YSE runs very smoothly. Snowberry were good, and Linda from TDC was awesome and great with the children.

Kate and Catherine were absolutely brilliant with the children. They played with them, they were extremely tolerant, they adapted their menus, they even left the sprinkles so that the children could put them on the cakes before eating them! The cakes were all delicious and favourite main courses were the duck, the slow-cooked beef cheek and the salmon with couscous. The chalet is absolutely gorgeous though you probably need to move the lamp over the coffee table because it bashes people on the head! We put our children into the Village des Enfants, one in the Crèche, one in the Garderie, and the kids were incredibly happy. One went to the Jardin d’Enfants with the ESF, and had a great time. The instructors were very attentive and loving. One of them noticed that one of the girls needed bigger gloves for instance. She was very happy and made rapid progress.

Hannah and Amy are both absolutely lovely girls and kept the chalet spotless. It’s a gorgeous chalet, the food was delicious, and we’re South Africans so we don’t know quite how the system works, but it is OK that we gave them a tip? They certainly deserved it! Everything was just great. Snowberry were brilliant. Pamela from Oxygène is a superb instructress. We enjoyed meals at the Fondue Factory, Baraque and 1789.

Everything was perfect in this superb chalet! Hannah is a quite brilliant chef. Everything she cooked was superb. We particularly remember her salmon and beef wellington. She is happy, chatty, friendly and full of interesting advice, and an absolute joy to be looked after by. Amy is quieter, but a lovely girl, keeping the chalet absolutely spotless and even the taps gleaming! They are a wonderful team, warm and welcoming, but not in your face. We hired from Precision because we always do, and they were very good. We had an excellent lunch at the Yule.

A superb chalet – everything is perfect, the location, the views, even the bedding! We’ve been at least a dozen times with one of YSE’s expensive competitors but never will again. Hannah is a five-star chef. She has to be your best cook. Her food is amazing – we really didn’t want to eat in any restaurants! Her presentation is absolutely beautiful, the portions perfect. Amy is just lovely and keeps the chalet gleaming. We really appreciated the help from the Land Rovers for our 80 year-old. We had a good lesson from EV2 and Snowberry were excellent for ski hire. We were about to drag our bags to the lift when the most handsome man we’d ever seen wafted in and took the lot…

Hannah and Amy are both really nice. They couldn’t have been more helpful or enthusiastic, and joined in with the banter. Both very attentive. Hannah’s food is fantastic. Everything was top drawer, with a great balance of flavours. All the old wood is a bit of a source of splinters, especially the boot room floor! Mattis and the Squaw Valley Precision were very good rental shops, and we had good food in the Lodge and Corniche, and loved the XV bar.

We’ve had a brilliant holiday. Des Pistes may not be the roomiest chalet, but it is lovely and we enjoyed the position. Lucy was a superb chalet girl. Her cooking was fabulous, of course, but she worked really hard and went the extra mile to an extent we couldn’t believe! She overheard one of us say she particularly like the Fever Tree tonic served only at the Yule, found out where the Yule got it from, and produced Fever Tree tonic in the chalet! Fabulous!

Thank you to everyone for a brilliant holiday this year in Chalet Des Pistes. We were all very impressed with the entire set-up, from the office to the flights and transfers. Lucy looked after us extremely well in the chalet, which was perfectly situated, and having the famous John overseeing everything at the airport was quite a bonus! If we were going back to Val we would definitely use YSE.

The chalet is great and Lucy is the Golden Goddess of Hospitality. She is lovely, sweet, calm and flexible. She’s a trouper! Whatever YSE is paying her it isn’t enough! Her risotto was wonderful. So was the duck. The salmon. The beef. The banana cake and the world-class chocolate fondant.

Lucy looked after us very well, she is very obliging and keen to help where she could, joining in our ‘lively discussions’, great fun. This is the best food we have had after several YSE holidays. The variety is excellent and Lucy took on board that we didn’t like spicy food, and also made a special pudding. La Vielle Maison was excellent for the night off, and up to the usual good standard. The hill up to the chalet is brutal and we think YSE should invest in a magic carpet up to the chalet. But really it was the best of many ski holidays yet.

This is a lovely chalet and Lucy runs it marvellously. She is terrific and she suited her food to the children, keeping it a bit simpler and less spicy for them, the portion sizes were smack on and all in all it was perfect. We had a wonderful week. Adrian and Lucia are both very, very good. Adrian is a genius. His cooking is seriously good and he has a lovely personality. Everything he cooked was fab, especially the chocolate fondant, beef cheek, triple-cooked chips, pork belly, salmon, duck, fishcakes – absolutely everything. Lucia is lovely and keeps the chalet very clean. We had excellent lessons from Bruno and Manu of Oxygène. Léo from the ESF seemed very inexperienced, and Sébastien was OK (we missed the advice on the bus to go through Niki because we fell asleep!). Snowberry were very good, and Movement skis were a revelation. Excellent lunches at Les Tufs, the incredibly inexpensive Cascade and the Trifollet. The self-service at Le Signal was very crowded.

We had a wonderful holiday. It’s a lovely chalet, and couldn’t be run better than it is by Adrian and Lucia. Adrian’s food is absolutely superb. He was flexible about meal times, and managed to serve different menus at the same time, including delicious gluten-free food. His fillet beef, duck, canapés, chocolate fondant, breakfast etc etc were all very, very good. Lucia is absolutely lovely. She couldn’t do anything wrong. She was lovely and kind, and kept the chalet spotless. She even skied with the children. Snowberry were perfect. James from BASS was a brilliant instructor, as were Eduardo and Didi from Oxygène. Bruno was good, but less so… We had a lovely dinner at Les Clochetons.

Adrian cooked beautifully all week with lots of variation. Really enjoyed the steak on the last night. Some lovely options for the vegetarian – really appreciated the extra effort. Lucia was always very helpful, kept the chalet immaculate and brought a lot of energy to the place.

Our best ski holiday ever! We love the chalet, it’s roomy and comfortable and the views are incredible. The position is perfect. Adrian is an absolute star, an enthusiast and a perfectionist. He baked his own muffins to make eggs benedict. His food was incredible. Lucia is friendly, welcoming and good fun and keeps the chalet incredibly clean and tidy. We had good meals at the Bellevarde, Tête de Solaise, Tufs and Bollin. We got a good deal on excellent  equipment from Killy Sports.

What a great chalet! Adrian’s food was brilliant, absolutely delicious, he’s an experienced chef. We loved the steak, triple-cooked chips, duck, salmon, cakes – everything. It was all very, very good and nothing was not perfect! Lucia is a gorgeous girl – fantastic. She keeps the chalet immaculate and nothing is too much trouble, even escorting our 20-something sons to the après-ski which she said was part of her job.. We use Ross from New Generation every year for lessons – he’s amazing. Snowberry for skis – excellent.

The chalet is gorgeous, its position fabulous with a lift and a ski run just outside. This was the best chalet and our best chalet holiday in 41 years of chalets! The lift indoors and even glove warmers were much appreciated, too. Adrian is a lovely fellow, and his food is faultless. Everything he cooked was delicious and beautifully presented. Anna kept the chalet absolutely spotless. She has a lovely manner, and she and Adrian were the perfect hosts.

Our holiday gets top marks, 10 out of 10 and our chef Adrian’s food gets 11 out of 10. It’s a lovely chalet and location and the staff were wonderful, the rooms were always exceptionally tidy and it’s the best chalet holiday we’ve had for years! Breakfast is such a highlight, especially the home-made marmalade, and all meals totally brilliant.

Sensational holiday, Adrian is a wonderful chef. His canapés are incredible, and his starters a work of art, as was all his food. He made chicken pancakes for people who don’t eat duck. Such a charming host. Anna is helpful, kind and anticipates every request and has great social skills. We love Pierre and always stay there. The wine on the wine list were fabulous this time – especially the Condrieu.

Our chef Sam is a babe! Sweet and friendly, a very good chef and very diligent, and his kitchen is so clean. Alice was wonderful and couldn’t do enough for us. She learnt all our names very quickly which was impressive. She’s very organised. Jason the driver is brilliant, such a happy guy with a smile on his face even when we were hungover in the morning. He also did an excellent job with the hot tub which we used til ‘silly o’clock’ in the morning. The food was incredible and Sam is too modest about how he introduced each dish, saying ‘oh it’s just such and such’ as if it was something ordinary, but it was amazing. Our veggies loved their food and didn’t feel they were missing out. Highlights of the week: peanut butter cake and the parfait with banana. Special mention to Larry the Land Rover – it’s a fantastic service and went the extra mile (oh dear). Love the heated seats.

What a great week we’ve had! The chalet is perfect, though we think we might move next door to Pic Noir next year, because some of the bedrooms are further from the living room, so we are less likely to disturb the children. Flora’s food is top restaurant standard – amazing! And she was cooking three separate menus every night because of our dietary requirements!! She was even providing several totally different breakfasts… Ellie is fab. Her cleaning is amazing. More importantly both girls were brilliant with the children. They let them join in and help them, and were unbelievably patient and sweet with them. We’re going to re-book tomorrow. The bench might need a sand or a cushion: the old wood is a bit splintery!

We go on many chalet holidays, but this was the best. The chalet is, of course, absolutely gorgeous. But most impressive were the girls. Not just the food, which was top-restaurant standard, but their total flexibility. They didn’t tell us when to eat, then rush off as soon as they could like so many chalet staff. They were totally flexible about meal times, never hurried us, were happy to serve dinner whenever it suited us, were chatty and charming and lovely to have around. Flora’s food is utterly amazing, her presentation beautiful. We loved everything, and the portion sizes were perfect. She must go on to a career in cooking – she has to be one of YSE’s top chefs. Ellie was lovely, friendly and highly impressive. She looked after us beautifully – everything from ringing restaurant after restaurant to make lunch bookings for us to her origami loo rolls! Julien from New Generation is a brilliant instructor. Snowberry is the best hire shop we have ever used. Their boots fit so well! We had excellent meals at the Grande Ourse, Trifollet, Edelweiss (gorgeous seafood risotto and lobster ravioli, though their Asiatic dishes were less good), Ouillette, Fruitière (by far the most expensive) and Panoramique self-service.

A perfect holiday in a brilliant chalet. The girls were very polite and charming, and Ellie kept the chalet really clean. Flora has to go on Masterchef! Her food was amazing. We loved her beef, duck, beef cheek, all of her puddings, her breakfasts… There was not one dish that wasn’t perfect. She even served a delicious birthday cake.

Flora and Ellie were excellent and attentive. We couldn’t possibly expect any better service, and it was lovely getting to know them. Flora is a great cook, everything including breakfast was brilliant. She accommodated people with different diets very well and seamlessly. Beef en croute was the favourite but everything was amazing. We hope Flora’s excellent knife skills come in handy during her upcoming fencing competition! Loved the chalet and couldn’t improve it.

It’s a gorgeous chalet and we’ve had a wonderful time. Flora is an excellent chef – calm, reassuring and her food was brilliant. We particularly enjoyed the beef cheek but everything was great. Ellie keeps the place spotless, she’s chatty and fun and entertaining, and we so appreciated her creative loo roll folding that we sent photos to our own cleaner who is also a competitive loo roll folder so that they could compare notes! We had excellent meals at the Fruitière and Edelweiss of course, but also at the Corniche.

I would be very grateful if you would pass on our sincerest thanks to Flora an Ellie for a wonderful stay in Chalet Ptarmigan over Christmas. Flora’s professionalism, passion and enthusiasm in the kitchen was very much appreciated by us all as we enthusiastically tucked into her beautifully prepared food. Ellie’s housekeeping and hosting skills were superb, as she effortlessly kept the chalet in great order always greeting us with a smile with nothing being too much trouble. We’ve had the perfect week in that super, wonderfully located apartment, looked after by the lovely Johanna. She is a really nice girl – brilliant with the children and very relaxing to be around – and cooks brilliantly. We loved her duck, her beef, her cakes, her children’s food. It was all great. Snowberry were amazing. Tansy and Dave from Mountain Masters and Ben from tdc are all excellent.

Despite being a bit apprehensive about bringing a tiny baby we enjoyed the holiday very much, the food was out of this world and Johanna was amazing. Our favourite meal was the duck as well as the chocolate brownies. Johanna could not have been more helpful and kind, the whole experience was so wonderful we have booked again for next year – same chalet !

Johanna did the most fantastic food, the children’s meals for the tiny children was excellent and she paid attention to detail to make them healthy with lots of vegetables. The adult meals were exceptionally good – the favourites were the Thai fishcakes, and the duck. The children’s favourite was the spaghetti Bolognese!! T4 nanny was very good. The nanny was very flexible if we skied a little later. We booked her every morning and had one evening’s babysitting.

Johanna was excellent, and looked after us brilliantly. She is an excellent chef, every meal was restaurant standard, particularly the beef on Saturday night. Precision ski were excellent and ideal as they are right on the doorstep.

Our tenth holiday at least with YSE, of which the last five were at Squaw Valley (already booked for next year!). Probably the best holiday ever. We absolutely love Squaw Valley – we mentioned on Friday the only shortcoming was a lack of reading light in the sitting room, and two hours later an excellent large reading light arrived! Johanna is absolutely lovely. Her food was all fabulous. And the nicest thing was when she joined us to eat, which the chefs certainly don’t have time for in the bigger chalets. We had great lunches at the Grande Ourse and Tufs, enjoyed walking on the cross-country skiing tracks at the top of Solaise, and thought the Aquasports Centre was really good and spotlessly clean.

Our fifth YSE holiday and it just gets better and better! We had several chalet girls over the week because the flu was decimating everyone, but appreciated the YSE policy of replacing any ill staff before they passed it on to the guests (none of us contracted flu). Everything was top notch. All the food was first class and all the girls lovely. A pair of boots bought in the UK turned out to be the wrong size. Snowberry’s entire boot-fitting team worked on them for 40 minutes, decided they couldn’t be redeemed and gave us a much better pair free for the week. This was typical of the extra mile attitude we encountered all week.

What a wonderful week. Everything was spot on. Johanna is a brilliant chalet girl, her food very good indeed, she kept the chalet spotless and even came in early on New Year’s moring because they wanted to benefit from the empty slopes. She was generally flexible, efficient and lovely.

We thought Gee was excellent and she took really good care of us. We’ve been before and knew what to expect. The slick transfers make YSE stand out (we’ve been frustrated by other companies…). A great week.

Mattisse ski hire was excellent and even gave a reduction due to injury. Our chalet girl Gee was exceptional and really easy to get along with, and incredibly adaptable and unflappable especially when dealing with all of the variables that an injury throws into the mix, and she made it all much easier to deal with. Her food was excellent every night.

Gee is truly brilliant and a very talented chef. She went out of her way to make us welcome, and is very efficient in how she runs the chalet and made it a home from home. Everything she cooked was amazing, we finished everything every night, and because we stayed for two weeks she altered her meals to fit in with our following week at Chardons.

Eva is so wicked – her food was great all week, better than any meal we had out.  Hattie is brilliant, very sweet and a great combo with Eva. The chalet was great, rooms really nice. Snowberry’s website is easier to use than ski republic, skis and boots fitted better as ski republic boots were not great. Eidelweiss was really good, Panoramic had excellent food.. We would definitely do it again!

Eva and Hattie were great all week – the chalet felt very homely and we couldn’t fault the food. All dishes were great – we liked the variety. Hattie made sure the chalet was always clean. She’s very friendly and managed to put up with us. Great YSE holiday!

Snowberry ski shop, very efficient, brilliant. Oxygene ski school did amazing lessons for the kids, the French instructors had great English. Our chalet staff Sarah and Eva went above and beyond with the kids, made a huge effort with them, just brilliant. Eva’s food was exceptional, in a very small kitchen as well but she handled it superbly. Restaurant Le Lodge was very good.

I have been skiing (badly) for about 40 years and about 65 ski holidays (downhill and ski touring) in the Alps and Americas in all but I have a special fondness for Val (9 visits since 1990) and YSE. I love your chalets and they have all been excellent. In fact it gets better every year. This year in particular was notable for the efficient (and entertaining) journey from Gatwick to Val, the beautiful chalet (Thomily) and the excellence of the staff: ‘Eva’, an accomplished cook who needs special commendation and ‘Ella’ her assistant who was equally delightful, vivacious and charming. They are very talented and sociable and are a credit to YSE. Please thank them on our behalf – although we did so at the time. They made our stay exceptionally enjoyable.

Snowberry very efficient. In the chalet Ella was fantastic, smiley, interactive and made a huge effort. Eva’s food was good all week and she was very good at accommodating different diets. We loved the croissants on the table for the day off. Chalet was really nice and tidy and we had a lovely stay.

Just wanted to let you know that our family have just returned from a lovely holiday organised by you in Val d’Isere. Tom and Vicky could not have been better hosts. Tom and Vicky were charming, very patient with the children, totally over and beyond. Lovely food too and Tom was really good with the kids’ food. Oxygene ski hire was great but the ski school is expensive – will investigate ESF  and EV2 next time.

Tom’s food was all very good. Even when he was off work Hannah stepped in at the last minute and cooked an amazing meal in an unfamiliar kitchen. We loved Tom’s Mexican theme salmon and the beef. Marcus is a great driver.

Snowberry were excellent for ski hire, very organised. Our chalet staff were lovely and went out of their way to help. Vicky is very organised and held it all together, was really great and the chalet was always immaculate when we got back. Access to a Land Rover was brilliant and Lewis is very nice and always punctual. The food was amazing and Tom catered brilliantly for extra requests – you can tell he enjoys cooking! The fruit smoothies were a nice extra. We’d definitely recommend La Cassorole for the night off.

We had a superb week. It’s a lovely chalet, the sitting room is gorgeous and we loved the huge log fire. Tom’s food was delicious – all of it. He is such a talented and enthusiastic chef. Vicky is a star. She’s a lovely girl, charming and efficient and runs the place (and Tom) impeccably. Bertie in the Land Rover was a brilliant service. He’s a really good lad. We loved Snowberry. We had good lunches at the Corniche, Tête de Solaise and, best of all, Fruitière.

I am just writing to confirm what I told you at the airport about how much we enjoyed our holiday. All the arrangements were excellent and we loved the chalet. I am writing in particular to say how much Tom and Vicky contributed to our enjoyment. Tom was a really excellent chef who provided food of a very high standard and was a delight to spend time with. Vicky was warm and welcoming with a great ‘nothing is too much’ attitude. They combined very well and in a party who probably have about 100 ski holidays between us, none of us had come across food of that standard. We also all loved the yellow Land Rovers and again Harry was invariably cheerful and helpful. You selected well.

Tom is a delightful guy and his food was great. The Asian night was exceptional, good portion sizes for the week and great cakes. Vicky kept the chalet spotless all week, outstanding, great value and very funny. Harry is utterly charming, always helpful about the ski slopes and weather. The driving service makes a huge difference. Lovely living room in the chalet. Hired equipment from Skiset – all good skis and good value for money.

Fantastic week! Tip top staff. Vicky is efficient and lovely and keeps the chalet so clean and tidy! She and Tom were both fun and entertaining, but also discreet and not in your face. Tom’s food is wonderful. He is a gifted chef and a perfectionist. We enjoyed lunches at l’Armailly and Chez Paolo.

I didn’t have the chance to say how much we enjoyed our holiday. It certainly helped having blue skies all week but I wanted to make a special thanks to Tom and Vicky in our chalet who were excellent hosts. Tom’s Michelin food exceeded our expectations and this, supported by Harry’s helpful and cheerful face every day, made for a great holiday.

Fab holiday. Lovely chalet. Tom’s food is brilliant. He is a gifted cook and so enthusiastic and passionate about cooking. His Thai evening, his steak, his breakfasts – everything was superb! Vicky is lovely, so sweet and helpful, and they work really well together. The chalet gleams! We loved Harry the driver. We got a good deal from Skimium, but neither the service nor the equipment were up to Snowberry standards. Kim from tdc ski school was great, as was Keith the new instructor from Pro Snowboard. Lunch at the Yule wasn’t cheap, but it was very good.

Tom was really great and his food was excellent. We have been several times on a YSE holiday and we’d say Vicky was the best chalet girl we have ever had! Connor was super —polite punctual and efficient. We enjoyed the meal out at L’Arolet but the chalet food was better!

This was our best-ever holiday. Super, just super. Obviously, the perfect weather and wonderful skiing helped, but everything was fabulous in the chalet. Tom is a very good chef and he works very hard to serve delicious, interesting food. Millie keeps the chalet absolutely spotless. She and Tom let the youngster in our party help (she’s going to be a YSE chalet girl in 2030!), and were lovely with her. Skiing with two of our staff was an absolute highlight. Oxygène were brilliant for instruction, particularly Massimo for nervous adults and Deirdre for children. Also good for equipment. The Casa Scara is very good at the moment.

We didn’t go to ski school but the non-skier in our group went on a 90-minute snowshoe walk booked through Killy Sport and loved it and really recommends it. The chalet was brilliantly clean, we loved the fire. Both Tom and Alex are exceptionally friendly! Bertie the driver is excellent and always very accommodating. The food was excellent – even better than expected and we missed Tom on our day-off! We also love the Crêperie near the Tourist Office – thoroughly recommended!

Our chalet staff were a brilliant team and couldn’t have done enough. Nothing was too much hassle and they were second to none. Polly is lovely and Nick is a phenomenal chef and his food was out of this world. We preferred the meals in our chalet to anywhere else we ate during the week. The children’s meals were great too, and our overall favourite was the beef wellington. A first class holiday.

As ever we had a fantastic holiday with YSE and everything went like clockwork. It is worth mentioning that the couple who ran our chalet, Alice and Nick, were exemplary. Nothing was too much trouble for either of them and the cooking was first rate. I would also mention Jamie who was the very willing driver of the Landrover and, again, nothing was too much trouble for him. They were all a credit to you.

Alice and Nick are phenomenal. The chalet was really clean and tidy and the beds are fab – the best we’ve ever slept on in the mountains! Guy and Harry our drivers are both such gentlemen. The food is some of the best we’ve ever had in a chalet. One member of our party normally doesn’t like fish but the salmon was cooked so perfectly she loved it! They also looked after someone with diet intollerances – really appreciated. Breakfast was excellent and we loved the beef Wellington and the ham dish… we’d come back just for that! YSE’s quality and level of service are just excellent.
