French Ski Resorts still Closed

In view of the latest lockdown in the UK and Val d’Isère’s ski lifts and restaurants remaining closed, with no confirmed opening date, YSE is regretfully having to cancel all bookings up to and including 7 February 2021. If the weeks pass with no change, the date will be pushed back week by week, and YSE will contact guests so they can choose between a full refund or a credit towards a future holiday.

And there will be future holidays! After thirty years’ co-operation, our chalet owners have very reasonably accepted that we can only start paying rent once we have customers, and our staff are standing by, ready to come out at a moment’s notice. So YSE is not going to fold, even if the resort doesn’t open at all this winter, but we are getting rather bored without skiing or guests!

When the lifts do open, the skiing is going to be amazing. The snow is peacefully packing down on the pistes, and hasn’t been this undisturbed for 80 years!

Even on 30 December the village was eerily quiet – as this photo shows.
