The End Of Summer, And A Lot More Vultures!

If we were excited to photograph a single bearded vulture last month, seeing 40 griffon vultures wheeling over Solaise together took our breath away this week! And whereas the lammergeyer or bearded vultures are resident here, no-one knows whither nor whence this flock was flying. But their numbers are increasing across Southern Europe, and with ibex and chamois now more likely to die of old age than for the pot, and the wolf allowed to attack sheep, there’s no shortage of food in the Alps.
