We collect information when you contact us via email, telephone, our website or social media, to enquire about or book a holiday, subscribe to our newsletter, give feedback or enter a competition. Information we collect includes: contact information such as name, address, email address and telephone number; call duration and location; information relating to booking a ski holiday such as travel enquiries, information about family and/or travel companions, your accommodation preferences and previous YSE holidays; date of birth, gender; information about special medical requirements and/or dietary requirements; payment dates, types and amounts, and payment history (NB we do not store credit card numbers or security numbers); information about your use of our website and information shared with us via your social media account (see below).

This website uses Google Analytics tracking software to collect information regarding pages you visit, the length of time you spend on our website, the type of device you use to visit the website and the IP address from which you connect to our website.

In most cases we use your information to enter into a contract with you and fulfil your holiday requests.

Your information may be used for the following purposes: providing the products and services you request in relation to your holiday; sending you information about the holiday, and about services connected to the holidays such as flight details, lift pass information, etc.; contacting you in the event of a change to your holiday, or asking you for more information (these communications are not for marketing purposes and cannot be opted-out of); managing and verifying your payments (we use your payment information for accounting, billing and audit purposes); for statistical and marketing analysis, systems maintenance and development, or in rare circumstances in order to deal with a dispute or claim; we may be obliged to provide your information to border control agencies or pass your information to government authorities or enforcement bodies for compliance with legal requirements; to manage our relationship with you as our customer and improve our services and enhance your experience with us; from time to time to send you an email newsletter giving you details of other YSE holidays and related services, cultural events in Val d’Isère, etc. (you have the choice to opt out of receiving such communications at any time); in the case of a medical emergency to protect your vital interests or those of another person; to award a prize if you have won a competition run by YSE.

We will only process your information where we have a legal basis to do so. The legal basis will depend on the reasons we have collected and use your information.

If you are providing us with another person’s information you should first ask them to read this Privacy Policy and our Booking Conditions. By giving us information about another person you are confirming that they have given you consent to provide the information to us and that they understand how their details will be used. Only children aged 16 or over can provide their own consent. For children under this age, consent of a parent or legal guardian is required.

It may be necessary to pass certain details about you and your party to third parties relating directly and specifically to your holiday, such as the ski pass company in Val d’Isère (Société des Téléphériques de Val d’Isère), etc., and when making a booking with YSE you are agreeing that we may do this. Please consult these companies’ privacy policies for further information. If you book through an agent, information may be held by the agent and you should refer to their own privacy policy.

When you click on links on our website, they may direct you away from our website. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other websites and encourage you to read their privacy policies.

This website allows you to share pages with social media networks such as Twitter and Facebook and information may be presented on your social media profile to be shared with others in your network. Please refer to the privacy policy of these third-party social media providers to find out more about these practices.

We may also disclose your information as necessary or appropriate when we have a legal obligation or legitimate interest to do so: to investigate, prevent, or respond to suspected illegal or fraudulent activity or to protect the safety, privacy, rights, or property of us, our users, or others; if requested or required by government authorities such as law enforcement authorities, courts, regulators, or otherwise to comply with the law (which may include laws outside your country of residence); in order to exercise or protect legal rights or defend against legal claims.

We have no plans whatsoever to sell YSE, but if YSE is acquired or merged with another company, your information may be transferred to the new owners so that YSE may continue to sell products to you.

We keep booking information for our own marketing records, our annual audit and your booking history. Information you give us about yourself or members of your party is held securely, and we will never sell any data about you to anyone else.

We will not retain your information for longer than is necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it is being used. To determine the appropriate retention period, we consider the amount, nature and sensitivity of the information, the purposes for which we process it and whether we can achieve those purposes through other means. We must also consider periods for which we might need to retain information in order to meet our legal obligations or to deal with complaints, queries and to protect our legal rights in the event of a claim being made. When we no longer need your information, we will securely delete or destroy it.

To prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online and offline.

You may opt out of receiving the YSE newsletter or any future paper brochures or flyers we may publish. You may not opt out of receiving correspondence and vital information relating to a YSE holiday you have booked.

You also have the following rights:

If you raise an objection we will stop using your information unless exceptional circumstances apply, in which case we will let you know why we are continuing to use your information.

You will not have to pay a fee to access your information (or to exercise any of the other rights) unless your request for access is clearly unfounded or excessive. Alternatively, we may refuse to comply with the request in such circumstances.

We may need to request specific information from you to help us confirm your identity and ensure your right to access the information (or to exercise any of your other rights). This is another appropriate security measure to ensure that information is not disclosed to any person who has no right to receive it.
