Saturday 4 May was a gorgeous day, though there was almost no-one here to appreciate it…

We had to wait for quite a while for someone to come down the OK. Normally we can find an elegant skier or two, but on Saturday all we saw were this father and son working on the modern skis apart technique:

Our staff hung up their Marigolds for a few hours…

before boarding the coach to Geneva Airport at dawn on Sunday:

They smiled for the photo, but there were tears as well. It’s hard work, but you never forget your ski season, and the people you’ve worked with will be friends for life.

And now Val d’Isère has returned to the farmers and the frogspawn.
