Today’s Conditions

See our Today’s Photo for pictures, regular up-dates on weather conditions, and interesting views of the village and pistes. From December to May Today’s Photo is updated daily (Monday to Friday) – forget stodgy snow reports and unfounded rumours, this is where you can see how conditions really are every morning of the season!

Outside the winter season, from May to December, our photographer sends occasional pictures of interest to the inquisitive skier, showing, for example, progress on the construction of a new lift, or a shot of the first snowfall in autumn.

Autumn Colours

Beautiful Hallowe’en colours as Val d’Isère gets its first major snow of the … autumn? Sometimes autumn only seems to last for a few days as the weather turns decidedly, and suddenly, wintery – just in time for the lifts to open on 24 November 2018.

Epic Snowfall

For once the word ‘epic’ is not an overstatement when describing Val d’Isère’s snow conditions this Winter 2017-18. Conditions are the most extreme anyone at YSE can remember, and we’ve been in Val d’Isère since 1976. All that was lacking was thunder and lightning, so lo and behold, we had a thunderstorm in the middle of the blizzard. That hadn’t happened for thirty years!

If you’re going to have bad weather, you might as well have properly exciting bad weather. And enough snow to ski on until July…

We’ve put some of our latest photos from Val d’Isère on the Snow page of this website.
